When talking about gastronomy in Puerto Banús we are, of course, talking about Andaluz cuisine, but the clear cosmopolitan influence in this area means that you will find many restaurants offering food from all over the world.
Puerto Banús is synonymous with glamour, shopping, night life?however the cuisine in an important part of the culture in Andalucía, here international restaurants dominate and reflect very well the mix of people that visit Puerto Banús.
Typical food on the Costa del Sol blends with other types of cuisine, you will often find ?different? dishes on the menus, but always linked with traditional cuisine: gazpacho and White garlic shots, battered prawn lollipops, Malaga salad balls? all washed down with great local wines and beers.
In the marina area there is a real ?fusion? air when it comes to gastronomy, however along the Rio Verde and Duque beaches, or following the promenade to San Pedro de Alcántara, you will find plenty of beach huts and restaurants where you will be able to try a fry up Málaga style, sardine kebabs, rice dishes and any other typical dish from Andalucía.
If there is something missing it?s the tapas, there are not as many bodegas as in Marbella, but there are some restaurants that offer tapas and raciones (small portions).
But really if you want to go for tapas, then the best thing is to drive or get the bus to the centre of Marbella, or visit San Pedro de Alcántara.
On the other hand, if you want to eat something different every night, Puerto Banús, is without a doubt, the most Cosmopolitan area of Marbella, therefore you won?t have any problems finding restaurants from other countries.
International cuisine lovers will not be disappointed, they can choose from Lebanese, Moroccan, Japanese, Thai and of course Italian restaurants. There are also plenty of fast food chains.
If one evening while you are here you would like to cook a special meal in your apartment, then the Corte Ingles Costa Marbella department store has a gourmet section where you can buy top quality produce and the best wines. There is also a shop in the Marina Banús square that specializes in selling the best cured ham in the country, go on, treat yourself.
Both the quality and the variety of cuisine in Puerto Banús are great, but we do have to say that prices here are rather more expensive than in other areas of the rest of the municipality.
When it comes to choosing the restaurant bear this in mind, as the Price-quality ratio could disappoint you.
So you decide you can have typical andaluz cooking and traditional cuisine or something new, from one of the international restaurants.
